Strandeiland
For Space&Matter, along with design partners ZUS and NL Architects, David Koezen was project lead for the winning tender of a nature-inclusive urban design for a new residential neighbourhood on Amsterdam's Strandeiland. The plan includes 215 homes and a community hub, with a strong focus on energy self-sufficiency, circularity, and community building.
Space&Matter is a core design partner in the consortium that won the prestigious municipal tender to develop Strandeiland №1 (plots M5 & M7), the very first residential project on Amsterdam's newly reclaimed IJburg island. Collaborating as part of a team led by Ballast Nedam Development alongside other prominent studios like NL Architects and ZUS, the Amsterdam-based design studio Space&Matter has crafted a pioneering urban vision focused on circularity and communal living.
